Dear fifth-grade families,

January 10, 2018 the first day of registration for the 2018-2019 school year! Many of your children will register with and continue on to your neighborhood middle school for sixth-grade, and some of you are considering our Open Enrollment process to have your child attend a school that is a better fit for your child and family.

We want you to know that no matter the middle school your child attends, they will be in a nurturing academic environment with caring adults, inspired peers, and many during and after school programs to choose from to meet their individual interests.

Please take a look at our attached Santa Clara Unified School District Middle Schools Brochure to learn more about each of our unique and amazing middle schools. If you are considering Open Enrollment, you may apply for your school of choice any time between now and February 7.

Visit the following webpages for more information about:

Sincerely,

Santa Clara Unified School District

Dear SCUSD Team,

We are excited to announce our first Substitute Teacher Recruitment Day on June 1st, from 8:30 - 10:30 AM in the District Office Board room.  We will have coffee and treats, information sessions, applications and on site interviews!  Our target audience are parent and community members who might already be actively involved in your school communities or are looking to be active in your school community.

We need your help!  Here are a couple of ways you can help.

1.  Please share this flier far and wide.  It would be great to post on your websites, attach to your electronic newsletters and post in your office windows.

2.  Invite parents to attend the event by emailing the flier to them directly, giving them a call or catching them in the office.

Thank you,

The City of San Jose, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services is  in the process of completing a major update of its existing Greenprint which was completed in 2009 .  The Greenprint is a long-term strategic plan that guides the future expansion of San José's parks, recreation facilities and community services.  The process will involve extensive public engagement and is expected to take approximately 18 months.

As part of the process we are trying to collect input from as many community members as possible.  We are aware how import the input of the Alviso community is to this process and are asking for your assistance in helping us to get the word out.

Alviso residents are encouraged to leave their  imprint on the Greenprint by taking the online interactive mapping survey.

We are also setting up "Intercept Events" to speak to people directly.  If you can think of any community events or meetings we should attend or present at please let us know.

Feedback in this process will help shape the future of San José's parks, recreation facilities, and neighborhood services.

For more background, read the June 1, 2016 Parks and Recreation Commission memo and presentation.
